distinguished speaker will be
Wallace Francis
former NFL player for the Buffalo Bills & the Atlanta
Falcons,
where he was voted 1979 player of the year by
his teammates.
Wallace Francis
was born in Franklin, Louisiana.
After High School he attended college at the
University
of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, where he received a Bachelor of
Arts Degree. In 1973 he was drafted by the Buffalo Bills to
play professional football. As a rookie player in the NFL,
#89 led the American Football Conference in kickoff returns
averages and touchdowns. In 1975 Francis was traded to the
Atlanta Falcons where he was the team leader in receptions
in 1978 & 1979 and was voted the Falcon’s player of the year
by his teammates in 1979. That year was Francis’
most productive year as a wide receiver in the NFL, with 74
receptions for 1013 yards and 8 TDs. The Atlanta Falcons
were 12-4 in 1980, losing 30-27 to the Dallas Cowboys in the
division playoff game.
Francis’
NFL career totals include 244 receptions for 3695 yards and
27 TDs. He averaged 15 yards per reception with his longest
being an 81 yard TD pass from Steve Bartkowski against the
San Francisco
49ers in 1980. Francis also had 2077 career kick off return
yards and two TDs, with a 101 yard TD return for
Buffalo
against the Philadelphia Eagles in 1973.
Francis
retired from football in 1982 to attend
Bible
School in Greenville, South Carolina.
In 1985 Francis began traveling as an Evangelist in the USA and was the Director of Youth
Outreach Unlimited.
He
joined Ambassadors for Christ International in 1990.
Ambassadors for Christ International USA, is a ministry that
works primarily with Church leaders to equip the saints for
the work of ministry. In January 2001, Francis was elected
National Director of AFCI-USA Team.
Francis
and his wife Cheryl live in
Douglasville,
Georgia and they
have four children, Brittany, Micah, Matthew, and Carmen.
