Founded in 1981, Young Business Leaders (YBL) is a Board-directed ministry whose purpose is to present the word of God to businessmen and professionals and to offer tools and environment that facilitate spiritual growth.  This purpose is fulfilled through several ministry strategies including evangelism, follow-up, small groups and discipleship.  YBL’s impact is made primarily by establishing men in the basics of the Christian life, and equipping them to share their faith and to disciple their colleagues in the business community.

Young Business Leaders adheres to the Christ-modeled example of discipling men by winning them to Christ and establishing them in their faith.  Four main ministry functions designed to facilitate YBL’s ministry strategy include:

Evangelistic Banquets- Banquets, hosted two times yearly in a professional setting, feature a prominent Christian speaker (businessmen, professional athletes, etc.) with a clear gospel message.  Over 1,300 invitations (which also encourage invitation by “word-of-mouth”) are sent to area businessmen and professionals.  Comment cards are completed by banquet participants which facilitate effective follow-up contact regarding participants’ reaction to the gospel message.  Past featured banquet speakers include Mr. Charles Olcott, former President of Burger King, Inc., Senator William Armstrong, former United States Senator from Colorado, Mr. Norm Miller, chairman of the board of Interstate Battery,  Adolph Coors IV, President of Coors Family Business Investments Frank Reich, former NFL quarterback for the Buffalo Bills and Loren Roberts, professional golfer..

Follow-Up- Based on comment card responses, banquet participants are contacted within one week. Comment cards provide banquet participants the opportunity to, 1) indicate a decision for Christ, 2) note interest in YBL Bible studies and/or 3) to simply be kept informed of pending YBL events.  YBL staff members coordinate the follow-up effort, but initial contact is generally made by the YBL Follow-Up Committee, comprised of YBL bible study participants.  Contact made by Follow-Up Committee members provides an opportunity for individual contact with each Banquet participant to help them get further involved in YBL activities.

Small group Bible Study- As a direct result of banquet follow-up, interested businessmen may participate in the staff-led, small-group Bible studies mentioned on the banquet comment card.  YBL’s three-week, Investigative Study focuses on the validity of God’s word, purpose for our lives and basic teachings on the Bible.  The 15 week, Concentrating on the Majors Study covers topics such as assurance of salvation, dealing with guilt, knowing and trusting God and the Lordship of Christ.

Discipleship- The laymen-led, long-term discipleship group, which focuses on establishing and equipping men in their faith  is YBL’s cornerstone ministry function.  God uses the dynamics of these small group, long-term bible studies to initiate significant, positive life changes for Christ.

Distinctive YBL Ministry Characteristics

  •  YBL is a lay-led ministry.  Ministry functions and small-group studies are performed primarily by laymen.  YBL staff members are primarily responsible for equipping the laity to perform YBL ministry functions and to provide necessary administrative support.

  • YBL’s focus on evangelism, follow-up and discipleship produces men who walk with God consistently and who share their faith and disciple others (spiritual multiplication).

  • YBL is committed to long-term relationships with its constituencies.

  • YBL is committed to a close association with local churches.
